I am registered in NZ as Clinical Psychologist with the NZ Psychology board and am a member of the NZ Psychological Society. I am also a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (Trauma therapy), Attachment informed Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and am registered in South Africa as Medical Practitioner.

I have trained widely in Couple therapy and focus on the Bader-Pearson Developmental Model Couple therapy. I am also trained in Sex therapy.

I’m very passionate about relationships! I believe that it is within relationships that we are able to grow and thrive if we are given the right support and awareness. I love experiencing the magic happen within a couple when they grow through engaging with Couple therapy. The Developmental model includes paying attention to our neurobiology, attachment theory and differentiation. The changes couples go through can change permanently because they learn how to allow their relationship to nudge them forward towards more growth and connection.

Appointments: Contact me via Wilme@sweetaspsychology.co.nz or via text message to 02041362595 to enquire

I offer appointments on Mondays – Thursdays 8 am-6 pm when available. I currently offer both zoom/telehealth and in-room consultations when available. I am located in Hamilton East.

Fees:
Fees are $230 + gst ($264.50 incl gst) per hour session. Couple Therapy appointments are 90 minutes long. Payments are due at completion of the session in cash or via online blanking. There is no EFTPOS or credit card facility available.

If you need to cancel or change an appointment, please provide at least 24 working hours’ notice. Sessions not attended or cancelled within 24 hours incur the full fee. Nonpaid invoices may be subject to debt collection and incur associated costs.

Please note that I cannot offer an after-hours, immediate response or crisis service.

If you are concerned for your own or any other person’s safety, contact the emergency services (dial 111) or your GP.

Relationships are at the heart of our existence. When our relationships thrive, we do too — feeling more connected, fulfilled, and truly seen. As a relationship therapist and a counsellor, I have been assisting clients to thrive, grow and change over the last 17 years. I am passionate to help couples to grow their connection, overcome challenges and equip them to create the relationship they truly desire.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. I believe we’re all on a lifelong journey of growth. I’m here to support you in building the skills and capacities that lead to a more fulfilling, connected, and joyful relationship. Drawing on Developmental Model and Imago Therapy, I offer a rich and practical framework to navigate through the common challenges and emotional ruptures that arise in relationships. Our work continues beyond our sessions —you’ll receive tailored assignments and exercises designed to help you apply the new skills and practices in your everyday life together. Over the years, I’ve gathered valuable insights into what supports long lasting change and makes relationships flourish, and I love sharing these transformative concepts and tools with the couples I work with. I am dedicated to work with couples and individuals across a wide range of relationship issues.

As someone living in a neurodiverse partnership myself, I have a deep personal and professional commitment to understanding neurodivergence and supporting couples and individuals navigating the complexities of ADHD and autism (ASD). Neurodivergence brings unique strengths—but it also often presents additional challenges that may cause deep pain or misunderstanding for both partners.

Wherever on your relationship journey you are, there are steps you can take to grow a strong, loving and lasting relationship.

I am a NZ-trained & registered Clinical Psychologist with 25+ years’ experience working with mental health and relationship issues across the life span – children, adolescents, and adults; specializing in working with couples for the past decade.

My couple therapy approach has been significantly influenced by the Bader Pearson Developmental Model of Relationship Therapy due in part to its dual focus of assisting individuals to understand and engage in their own personal growth, alongside the couple work of assisting insight, understanding, capacity, & skill development for enhancing relationship trust and intimacy. Long-term intimate adult relationships provide valuable and meaningful opportunities for growth if we choose to explore them and be open to feedback. In my experience, resources (e.g., time, energy, money) invested working within a couple therapy framework have the ability to offer greater returns in a timely manner than individual therapy aimed at addressing relationship concerns. Given this, I am highly motivated to assist couples to make the most of the opportunity they are presenting with, working together to achieve growth for both parties and, if they choose, an enhanced connection with each other.
